Trip to lake Tekapo and Mt.Cook

This weekend we decided to organise our own trip to lake Tekapo and Mt.Cook. As soon as we had stuffed our hired people mover with backpacks, food, boots and other gear we headed to the lake Tekapo. Unfortunatly we were to late for sunset, but we enjoyed our evening in a japanese restaurant by delicious sushi. In the morning the weather was great and we tramped to Mt.John. A great viewpoint with stunning views into the Southern alps. After a short sparkling bath in Lake Tekapo we took the drive to Mt.Cook. Awful landscapes, beautiful lakes... on the Plains of Rohan we were desperatly looking after Frodos and Sams footprints. The search ended by a definite downside.
At Sunday Mt.Cook changed his face suddenly: cloudboursts and strong wind blow us away. We took the gorgeous scenic drive along the mountains back to Christchurch.

Beach and mountain

Biking and walking at the Northern beach from Christchurch
Just around the corner is the Bottle Lake Forest, where I enjoy mountainbike tracks. A ride along the magnificent coast, a 2 ours walk at the deserted beach and my first jump in the sparkling fresh water from South Pacific - a great day!

Skiing at Mt.Hutt
Mt.Hutt is one of the supherb skiing regions on the Southern Island. After a long cold winter there is 3m snow. Slopes are well prepared and snowconditions are great. I enjoyed an amazing day with some students from seafield. (Here with my hommate Jozo from Japan).

First weekend in Newzealand

Tour to Hanmar Springs
Last week we had rain and the southern alps are snowcovered. A fantastic drive to Hanmar Springs (my photographerheart was bleeding), chilli ours in the hot pools and after that some vinetasting: delicious white vine, particullary Pinot Gris...
